Eligibility
If you are a regular full-time employee of the City of Lancaster, working 20+ hours per week, you are eligible to participate in the City's benefits program on your 31st day of employment. As a new hire, you have the option to enroll yourself and/or your eligible dependents in the City's benefits program. If you do not enroll within 30 days of your initial eligibility period, you will not have an opportunity to do so until the next open enrollment period.
If you do not enroll by the date when your benefits will go into effect, you will not have the opportunity to do so until the next open enrollment period, unless you have a Qualifying Life Event.
Eligible dependents include:
-
Your legal spouse - A spouse who is eligible for medical coverage through their own employer (active or retiree) is not eligible for the City of Lancaster medical plan if the employee contribution for self-only coverage is less than 50% of the premium (or COBRA rate for self-funded plans) and they decline that coverage. If the spouse enrolls in both their employer's plan and the City's plan, the City plan will provide secondary coverage.
-
Your dependent children up to age 26.

Opt-Out
Employees covered under another health insurance plan may opt out of the City's medical coverage and receive a taxable opt-out payment.
